From life.

I have two drawings to share today. One of them is an updated WIP of an earlier drawing I posed, and the other is a digital life drawing. This first drawing is just an updated version of the SciFi drawing. I fixed some of the lineart between this version and the last time I posted, also, but I don't know if anyone will notice. Anyone other than me, obviously. I moved Anya's head so it's further back, so it doesn't look like she's sticking her face out all awkwardly. I also rotated Aaron almost entirely--everything except for his feet, which were flat on the ground to begin with. Now he's not falling serenely onto Matthew.
I tried something new with the eyes in this one. I actually gave them some life. This is the first time, with this style of face, that I have done anything with the eyes other than making them a flat, solid bit of color. I'm really happy with them so far.

This second drawing is my life drawing, obviously. I have a skintone set for photoshop that I downloaded off of DeviantART a long time ago. I've wanted to try digital painting for a really long time, but never really had the chance to. I know I'm not ready to do it without a reference, at the very least.
I'm pretty proud of this drawing. I know that it isn't the best drawing ever or anything, but I feel like it's a solid first try.
I haven't put this one up on DeviantART yet, though, cause I don't want to embarrass John. A lot of mutual friends watch me, and would see it. But I'm pretty confident that no one other than him reads this blog, if even that many.

Moar WIPs

I was drawing last night, but couldn't cinvince myself to stick with one drawing or another. So, I worked on three.

I love pin ups. Especially ones that are classy, like ones from the 1950's through the 70's? Yeah. I wish I could draw like those.

Chibi Spartan!
I drew this at a chick flick night last summer. I intend to turn it into a bookmark, for Anime Detour this year. I need to look up references, though, before I can finish coloring it

.
This last one is the one I'm most excited about. I've even fixed up the lineart from last time I worked on it. I think it looks much better.

Brynn and Anya, colored!

I finished coloring the drawing! And look, I even pretended to put a background on it! :D

Again, this is Brynn (the white haired girl) and Anya (the blond), from SciFi Arc 3.

I am really happy with the shading in this, and I'm having a ton of fun drawing.

Two New'uns

The first drawing I have for you today is a WIP. I just finished the lineart now. :)
On the left is my friend Laura's RP character for a science fiction game we played during last school year/summer. (It was a very long, two part game, basically.) On the right is my character for that game, Anya. Our characters lived together on the same ship, and were basically best friends.
This line art is really old--five or six months, at least. And at the rate [I feel] I have been improving recently, that makes a big difference. This is also before I started forcing myself to draw characters without their toes pointing together. x(

This second one is a finished drawing that I'm actually really proud of. It's the new banner for my webcomic, Loser Corner. The website isn't live yet, but I'm getting everything ready for John to code it for me. (<3 ) From the left, it's Laura, Anna, Kari, Peter, Ellie, Me and John.
Ellie, John and me are the characters that appear most often--that's why we're bigger. The other four appear the second most often, I suppose.
I had a ton of fun drawing this. I'm really proud of the shading, particularly on Laura (in the yellow). I used stock/flickr for the bricks/Peter's shirt, though. I plan to change that at the earliest possible time.

Dump

Aaaaaaand we're back.
So, here's the story: My old computer crashed. I got a new one, finally, on November 2. Then I finally got photoshop some time late last week. So now I'm drawing on the computer again!

Basically, my new plan is to post sketches and pages from my sketchbook on here, now that I have a computer again. I will ignore this blog no longer!

...With my one follower. Who happens to be my boyfriend. Argh.

Arc 3 Crew

It's nearly finished!

I've got just about all the flats done, and I'm going to start shading in a little bit. I just wanted to take a break--I've been working on it for a few hours already today.

This is the crew for the third arc of SciFi, being run by John. Five players, plus three/four NPCs played by John.

From left to right: "Captain" James Aldrich, Arthur, Nick, Brynn, Aleksi, Anya (played by me), Matthew, Aaron and Chair.

Plus Toby/Pepper, underneath Anya.

Finished Works

Sorry for the double post. Kind of. ...Not really.
But! I realized that while I've posted sketches and WIP's on here, I haven't really posted the finished versions.

First up, Dreamland:

I actually finished the drawing of Anya and Matthew, and I'm really happy with it! The grass was a bitch to do, by the way. But I'm really glad that I did it by hand, and not with the grass brush.

I took my time on this piece, moreso than I usually do. I gave them both pretty realistic hair. Well. Fairly realistic. Still kind of cell-shaded, but.. less so. :)

Also, Anya's got pink nails because she and Brynn had a girl's night with Aria. It was awesome.

Nextly, The Icarus Crew:

I ended up really hating the sketch I originally posted on here, so I just re-drew the whole thing. I'm really glad I did, honestly. This one looks so much better. I left John out of it, and I feel a little bad. But it does make more sense, in this case, to have just the characters.

Ego WIP Update

Remember that Ego sketch I posted forever ago?

Well, I've been working on it.
I'm actually more done that this lets on. I've gotten all of the flats done, and I've even started shading a little bit.

I've done a few drawings and sketches in my new sketchbook, too. I haven't been able to scan them in yet (read: I've been too lazy to hook the scanner and the computer together), but I'll get to it soon. There's a drawing in there that I'm really excited to work on. :)

New Sketchbook

I just bought a new sketchbook at the Wet Paint Sidewalk Sale. It's very pretty--9 x 12, so I can actually hold paper in the back. It folds over the stop, which'll be kind of weird to get used to.

I fully intend to try out more figure drawing in this book. Also, more naked people. Because those are always fun. I would like to get my style a little more defined by the time I'm done with it.

Clear goals for my new book:
-Work on figure drawing
-Find a style I like for drawing faces
-Do at least one drawing of three or more people

I might add some more later, if I think of some.

Sketches

I scanned in a couple of sketches. I haven't cropped or resized them, so beware of huge images and sketchbook rings:

This is one of Peter the Wessendorf in, yes, hooker boots and a mini-skirt. I'm going to color this, and his skirt will be bright pink. It's gonna rock. It all started with a journal-meme, in which he said something about making his money being a man-whore on the streets.
Drawings ensued.

Secondly, I have costume sketches to show. I'm planning on putting together a Steampunk costume (since I adore steampunk.)
These are our "aristocrat" looks. I really like fancy cigarette holders, so I really wanted to incorporate one. The guy costume there is meant to go to John. He had a big hand in helping me design it.
The bottom, sideways drawing is me attempting to make an air-pirate type thing. Basically, I want an excuse to wear these cool pants that I saw. But, I really can't get the drawing to work out right. My though was that if I spend the money on a nice corset (not the ones from CON, which are like 400$. But a "real" nice one. Like from Fredrick's. Which are like 50-60$), I should try and use it in both costumes. Ja?

Lastly, I have a drawing from game last week. We were playing Changeling. And our characters literally opened up a detective agency. John's character is this huge guy, and my character is a tiny four-year old who's attached herself to him. She usually rides around on his shoulders. She also keeps a cell phone in her boot, so we can get hold of the rest of the party. John, Peter and Bren have all had their characters wandering around like cops in movies from the 40's-ish. It's really funny. But my character, Jenny, wanted to wear the hat. Since she's so tiny, you can't really see much of her face when she wears it.

Uhm.. that's it for now. If you want to see these sketches when they're finished and colored and nice, check out my deviantart, at http://muffinsquire.deviantart.com . Thanks!

Matthew and Anya

I love this drawing so much! :D

It's from the Friday tabletop role-playing game I'm in. The girl in the back, Anya, is my character. The boy in her lap, Matthew, is an NPC, played by my boyfriend, John. I'm really glad it isn't someone else playing him, or that could get pretty awkward. :/

Gaming chibis

Wow, lookit me go, not posting for almost a whole month. :/

Anyway. I've been drawing pictures of all the characters I've played for tabletop games. I obviously haven't been playing long. :3

This is Anya. She was my first real character. I played her for the game that my friend Ian ran, which took up about half the school year; probably a little more.

Maja is the first character I played for a serious group. She's a seven year old psychic in a game that my boyfriend, John, ran for us.

Finally, Anya. She's my current character for SciFi, which John is also running. Anya is actually Maja, just ten years older. She hit her head while out on a mission, and lost her memories. It's been the source of a lot of fun. For me, at least. :3

WIP fest

A couple more WIPs to share. :3

This first one is for a contest on DeviantART. "Good vs. Evil." I know, I'm so clever with my subject matter, ne? Either way, I'm having fun with it. I liked making the devil girl the cute blond, while the angel girl has dark hair. Don't see that often.

Nextly comes this one. Just some lineart. I need to make some changes to it, but I'm working on some more dynamic poses. I might color this in a new style I want to try out...

And now, this last one is for a meme on dA. I like this kind of thing--it's past me and present me! Yeah, I was one of those terrible kids who wore a backwars cap. Mine was denim. I'd also regularly pull my bangs through the.. gap thing, where you adjust the size. I was an awesome kid. That's also totally meant to be a Harry Potter book. I was obsessed as a child.

Anyway. That's it for now. See you.. next time?

SciFi drawings

Game was so fun yesterday! Also, eventful. Anya really got a chance to flesh herself out. It really shows that she grew up with who she did, even though I, as her player, had no idea until after game last night. Anyway.
This is Anya, Alexi and Bryn playing in the pool in our hotel on Alpha Centari. However it's spelled.
Anya, in the bikini, is mine. Alexi, the little boy, is being played by Gwen. Bryn, with the short hair, is played by Laura. Anya's 17, Alexi's 10, and Bryn is 19. This is just a couple hours before the firefight outside the hotel, where I accidentally shot... both of them, actually. It wasn't my fault, though! Capt. James made the world go all "twisty!"

I'll submit the full-color version on to my deviantart (muffinsquire.deviantart.com) once it's done. I've almost got Anya colored.

This second drawing is a scene that happened in a bar. Anya and Bryn walked in, and creepy dude walked up. I asked him if he had a face under his beard. Then he got confused, and didn't seem to know if he should be angry or not. He clenched his fist, and Anya yelled, "Oh cute, he's gonna hit us!" Then Bryn broke his nose before he got a chance to move. The people in the bar gave us free drinks and food.
Also, understand that Bryn is 19, and Anya is 17. I dunno about her, but I've got a 4 in appearance with the specialty "seductive," in addition to my special ability: jail bait.

Works in Progress!

The first drawing is a WIP of the sci fi group. John ran the first full campaign I ever played in. My character is in the center, on the ground. The child, Maja. Wren is next to her, also on the ground. She's played by Laura. John's behind us. To the right of him are James, Maja's father, and Katsuro and his sister Rania. To the left of John are Sasha (complete with baby-bump), Aaron, and Bartholmew. Probably plotting something.

At the end of the campaign, Bart was dead and Maja and Katsuro were missing. It was awesome.

My second WIP for today is called "Ego," based on the drawings that Piromaniac and Just-a-Creep did on DeviantART by the same name. I did a version of this a while ago, in 10th grade or so, but I never finished it. I'm going to ink and color this one when I have time/motivation. :3

D&D Group

I guess this is as good a drawing as any to start with, ne? This is the first group I really gamed with. It was actually... a really bad group. >.< I'm playing a rogue wrong?! You're a freaking dwarf!" but I refrain.
I might draw the scifi group that we played under John. I loved that group. :) It's the first campaign I played start to finish.
